2009 Winter Comiket Catalog - Idols section

Of course, it wouldn’t be the end of 2009 without the recently-finished Winter Comiket, the cold-weather sister of Japan’s biggest geek event of the year.

By my count, that’s 8 Hello! Pro-related tables (with an apparent bias towards Buono! and Berryz) versus 4 AKB48 tables. So, not to take anything away from Kouhaku’s arcane selection system or Oricon’s mathematical manipulation or the Yakuza Illuminati that are running the music industry, but the true fans have spoken. (Of course, you give the AKB fandom a few more years to coalesce and things will probably even out.)

I feel really bad for the one Idoling!!! table though. I mean, it looks like it’s for Suzuka Morita (since Shinkenger is also mentioned), who is at least reasonably popular, but man, you gotta feel lonely out there when you’re even outnumbered by the SPEED fandom…

    Funny how Comiket has an Idol section, yet is the only otaku convention ever with no place for idols themselves to perform D:

    Also, who are the girls in AKB’s tables 1 and 4?? First one looks like Akicha.
