Good post! As someone who was a sixteen year old girl not long ago, I find it odd that people are saying she’s too young. Sixteen is around when most girls start to think about their sexuality a lot more, when it becomes an important thing for us and something that we have more confidence and knowledge of. It’s not the same at all as a thirteen year old taking sexy pictures, and I can assume anyone saying that it is is probably male. Many normal sixteen year old girls take pictures like this themselves, with quite a bit knowledge of what that means. Treating Mizuki like a child who doesn’t know what she’s doing is waaaaaaaay more sexist than these pictures.

I love you for writing this. I dated a former Japanese gravure idol and I was the only person among our common friends who knew about her past occupation because she knows people have equated that kind of work experience with sexual promiscuity.

Some people would separate truth from facts because no one puts moral values on facts but most people would put moral values on “truths”. Facts are the only truly true things, in my opinion. There’s no good nor bad. An application of moral values on anything is judgmental behavior and is the reason why laws are necessary since morals are subjective while laws are supposed to be based on reason and consensus and therefore should be objective.

She is 16. 16 year old people can work as idols. Idols and their companies produce photobooks. Photobooks are products. Products are items for sale. Sold items are owned by buyers. Buyers have the right to do whatever the hell they want with their purchases (within the bounds of law).

Yup. that about sums it up,

However, I would add: as an idol fan if you have been in it or following the fandom for NAY length of time…how is this controversial??? EVERYONE has a photobook! Kuduu had one for crying out loud! I know she’s younger and her body type is different, but every idol eventually gets a PB. Rika Ishikawa, Ai Kago, Ayaya, Erena Ono…and so on and so on, since, like, forever this has been happening..the pictures are always the same. Bikinis, summer dresses, a school girl outfit, etc

SO…what is the big freaking deal with Mizuki’s? I really do not get it. If you don’t like this sort of thing A) DONT LOOK AT IT B) Get a new hobby.

I, for one, await Ayumi’s with breathless anticipation.
